Useful Tips to Do Well For Your Part-Time MComp from NUS. Also Relevant For Any Master's Degree, Anywhere!

My master's journey has been a wonderful experience that I never once regretted taking on. It was made even more special with me winning the SCS Gold Medal & Prize 2022 (for being the student with the best CAP in Information Systems specialisation for the year 2021-2022). Those four semesters just went by in a flash and I have to admit that some days were rather crazy and hectic while others a little more palatable. But throughout it all, I tried to do several things to keep me going and help me attain that Master's degree and I will share some of those in this post. While my Master's degree was in Computing with a specialisation in Information Systems (IS), I feel these tips could apply generally to any Master's programme. I would also like to mention that I did my Masters completely online via zoom classes (due to the Covid-19 situation) so there might be certain aspects more applicable to online classes but mostly, the tips here do apply for most situations. Dis...

Facing Writer's Block? Here is Hoping this Letter to Myself Helps You as It Helped Me.

Image Credit: Clip Art Max Letter to myself 25th April 2018                                               For the longest time, I have wanted to write something. Anything. I wanted to see my work published somewhere. For it to have a profound effect upon people, to be admired and praised for the sheer genius of what comes out of this brilliant mind of mine. But all these wants and daydreaming of one day receiving hordes of accolades and admiration have only resulted in one thing - the demise of my writing. I never got round to writing anything. I guess the fear of failure did get to me in the end. I simply stopped, and for a long time didn't even think of writing. It is amazing what uncontrolled fear can do. It can stop you from doing the simple things that you used to enjoy doing. Things that you do simply because of the joy it gives you.  It is amazing what uncontro...

My Love Affair with JR Hair and Beauty Salon - How this former Jawed Habib Singapore Hair Salon won me over many others | A Hair Salon Review

Tucked away inconspicuously along Tanjong Katong Road is a gem of hair salon I discovered about seven years ago. The former Jawed Habib Hair and Beauty Salon (Singapore) has since May of this year, taken on a different moniker - JR Hair and Beauty Salon and is now relocated to just a short walking distance away from its previous location.  The outside of JR Hair and Beauty Salon Current Location : 263 Tanjong Katong Rd, #01-01, Suites@Katong, Singapore 437050 How my journey with them began... It was an anxious day in 2015 when I first stepped into Denise's hair salon. I was planning to have a hair cut and that was a constant cause for anxiety because I had always felt deeply unsatisfied with all my previous hair cuts with other hairdressers . It made me wonder if there might actually be a salon somewhere that understands my 'Indian' hair and how best to style it.  This constant dissatisfaction with my hair cuts pushed me to 'shop around' for some potential salons t...

NUS's CS5228, IS5116 and IS5151 Reviews - Master of Computing Modules

So the first semester of my second year of Master of Computing, specialising in Information Systems, was for lack of a better word, NIGHTMARISH. Somehow I chose modules that were somewhat heavy and on top of that, had to content with a job change right in the middle of the semester! But all things eventually come to an end, even nightmarish semesters. All is well that ends well as they say. In this post, I will cover my  Year 2, Semester 2 modules  - CS5228, IS5116 and IS5151 in the hopes that it will help all of you with your own planning and scheduling for the semester. This semester also marks me undertaking my first CS module (and probably the last one). There are just too many IS modules I am interested in doing and will probably do those. For reviews on the other IS modules I took, do check out those posts here -  Year 1, Semester 1 modules - IS5005 and IS5009  ,  Year 1, Semester 2 modules - IS5008, IS5111 and IS5128  and Year 2, Semester 2 mod...

Just watched The New Mutants and decided to Rank All the X-Men Movies based on how Rewatchable they are

Having gone back to revisit my favourite bunch of mutants in action, there were clearly some X-Men movies that were just much more enjoyable than others, with some even being downright painful to rewatch. These painful-to-rewatch ones really made me rethink if I ever want to waste another (approximate) two hours of my life again. Not particularly, I am thinking. That was probably what spurred me to write this post where I rank all the X-Men movies so that next time I know which ones I can just toss out of my 'X-Men movie rewatch' marathon. Disclaimer:                                                                                                                               ...
